fill the vacancy 递补

Three new members filled vacancies¹ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) following the dismissal of former members from the Party.

在几名党员被开除党籍之后，有三人递补中中国共产党中央委员会委员。

中央委员会委员出缺时由中央候补委员（alternate member）“递补”在英文中用fill the vacancy²表示。中央委员会委员和候补委员都由党代会代表和特邀代表通过无记名投票（secret ballot/anonymous ballot）选举产生，中央委员会委员和候补委员都实行差额选举（competitive election）。

十八届四中全会同时还确认了中共中央政治局之前作出的有关罢免李东生等6人中央委员会委员身份的决定，“确认或批准之前的决定”可表达为endorse the prior decision，“罢免某人的委员身份”则可用revoke the membership of someone或者strip someone of his/her membership表示，如：The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee decided⁴ to revoke³ the membership of six former officials, including Li Dongsheng, Jiang Jiemin, Yang Jinshan, Wang Yongchun, Li Chuncheng and Wan⁵ Qingliang.（中共中央政治局决定罢免李东生、蒋洁敏、杨金山、王永春、李春城以及万庆良等6人的中央委员身份。）
