The Standing¹ Committee of the National People's Congress is considering reducing by nine the number of crimes subject to the death penalty through revising the Criminal Law.

全国人大常委会拟通过《刑法》修正案减少九个适用死刑的罪名。

Crimes subject to the death penalty就是“适用死刑的罪名”，报道中简称“死刑罪名”。此次刑法修改拟取消的9个死刑罪名分别是：走私武器、弹药罪（smuggling weapons and ammunition）、走私核材料罪（smuggling nuclear materials）、走私假币罪（smuggling fake banknotes）、伪造货币罪（counterfeiting banknotes）、集资诈骗罪（collecting funds through fraud）、组织卖淫罪（organizing prostitutes）、强迫卖淫罪（forcing prostitution）、阻碍执行军事职务罪（hindering the enforcement of military duties）、战时造谣惑众罪（spreading rumors² during wartime）。
