China-US Year of Tourism 中美旅游年

President Xi Jinping announced on Tuesday in his speech in Seattle that China and the US will launch a China-US Year of Tourism in 2016. 

22日，国家主席习近平在西雅图发表演讲时宣布，中美将在2016年举办“中美旅游年”。

 

习近平强调，在新起点上推进中美新型大国关系(new type of major-power relationship)，尤其要做好几件事，其中一点就是广泛培植人民友谊(foster friendly sentiments among the peoples)。

 

习近平表示，国家关系归根结底是人民之间的关系(people-to-people relations)。中美两国虽然相距遥远(geographically far apart)，但两国人民友好交往源远流长(long history of friendly exchanges)。习近平说，70年前，中美作为二战盟国并肩奋战，中国不会忘记美国人民为中国人民抗击侵略、赢得自由和独立(freedom and independence)给予的道义支持和宝贵援助(moral support and invaluable¹ assistance)。
