Feb. 15 - China will not apply to designate Chinese New Year an intangible world cultural heritage, an official from the Ministry1 of Culture was quoted by the CRI as saying.

 

The Vice2 Culture Minister, Zhou Heping, revealed on Tuesday that the country's first batch3 of the intangible cultural heritage name list will be published on June's "Culture Heritage Day."

 

Zhou said China has set up criteria4 for the selection of intangible cultural heritages that also stipulates5 the rights and commitments born by heritage holders6.

 

He added China will build protection zones in regions where abundant intangible cultural heritages are located.

 

China also plans to collect lost intangible cultural heritages to avert7 overseas smuggling8 and establish digital museums and databases on the Internet.
