北京公布无人驾驶汽车初步草案

Authorities in Beijing have released initial regulations concerning the road testing of self-driving vehicles, reports Beijing Daily.

 

《北京日报》报道，北京市政府已公布无人驾驶汽车路试的初步草案。

 

The regulations were released by Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport together with Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.

 

Self-driving vehicles must pass driving tests on an off-road test track before being tested on public roads. Detailed¹ technical requirements for the tests are included in the new regulations.

 

In order to comply with the new regulations, self-driving cars must be limited to a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour, and must be able to parallel park within one and a half minutes. 

 

And they must be able to recognize road signs and signals from traffic police, and make adjustments for extreme weather and changes in road conditions. In emergency braking, testing operators must be able to take over and stop the cars within two seconds.

 

A number of Chinese companies, including Alibaba and Baidu, are working on the research and development of autonomous² driving technology.

 

In July 2017, Baidu was fined after conducted a road test of an autonomous vehicle in Beijing without the authorization³ of local authorities.
