Chinanews, Beijing, February 17 – ChinaHR.com recently conducted a survey among some 700 white-collar workers to find out their attitude toward the Spring Festival, especially their planned expenditure1 for the upcoming 7-day holiday.

 

About 55% of the responders have prepared 1 or 2 months' salary for the Spring Festival, and some 35.06% don't have specific spending plan. Only 10% of the responders have prepared 3 months' income or more for the festival.

 

Most of the money will be spent on their family reunion journey, as 61.42% of the responders say so. Besides, presents for family members will also take up a large part of their expenditure. However, the rising cost of family reunion has put a great pressure upon the white-collar workers, even causing worries and depression.

 

It is too heavy a burden for white-collar workers to spend 1/12 to 1/6 of their annual income for a 7-day holiday, and 18.42% of the responders express their worry in the survey. The pressure and expectation of the Spring Festival have driven them to work harder in the past year, but their salary remains2 the same. The employees of some enterprises3 in China even have to work overtime4 without extra pay at all.
