China will open more than 600 army barracks to the public as part of celebrations of major anniversaries and festivals, the People's Daily reported on Wednesday.

《人民日报》周三报道，为庆祝八一建军节，中国将向公众开放600多座军营。

The report said that the opening of the barracks will help the public to better understand the country's national defense¹.

The announcement was made as part of celebrations to mark the 91st anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) on August 1. Army, navy, air force, rocket force, and the armed police at the division, brigade, regiment², battalion³ and company levels will be opened to the public across 31 provincial⁴ regions.
