Chinanews, Shanghai, February 27 – According to Shanghai Municipal Health Administration, the life expectancy1 of Shanghainese in 2006 reached 80.97 years, and the mortality rates of maternity2 and infant have been successfully controlled under 8.31/100,000 and 401/100,000 respectively. The health conditions of Shanghainese are as good as those who live in intermediately developed countries.

 

In 2006, averagely 320 thousand people went to hospital every day in Shanghai. Some 110 million emergency cases happened all through the year, 10% higher than the figure in 2005.

 

No contagious3 diseases broke out in Shanghai in 2006, particularly the most fatal ones like hepatitis, cholera4 and flu. No cases of snail5 fever and infantile paralysis6 were found, either.
