Chinanews, Beijing, Mar1. 6 – Chinese economy will see another double-digit growth this year, the fifth in five years. It is expected that economic growth rate will reach 10% in 2007, said Lu Zhongyuan, head of the Macroeconomic Research Center at the Development and Research Center of the State Council, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

 

From 2003 to 2006, Chinese economy has grown at a rate of more than 10% for four years consecutively3. At the same time, China has not experienced high inflation.

 

Lu made the prediction last Saturday when he attended a Spring Annual Session on China’s Macroeconomic Situation for the Year of 2007.

 

Although the central government has clearly stated that it will manage to slow down economic growth this year and take measures to curb4 investment fever in real estate market, Chinese economy is still moving at the economic growth cycle, and economic growth rate for the whole year may reach about 10%, the fifth consecutive2 double-digit growth in five years, said Lu.

 

Prompted by urbanization process and the development of heavy chemical industry, investment in fixed5 assets will continue to grow and consumption will remain strong, Lu predicted.

 

“Investment growth rate in fixed assets may reach at least 25% this year while consumption will expand at a rate of around 13%,” he said.
