Chinanews, Beijing, March 10 – According to China Council for the Promotion1 of International Trade (CCPIT), patent infringement2 cases have cost Chinese enterprises at least $1 billion since its entry to the WTO, covering cell phones, MP3 players, TV sets, DVD players, etc.

 

This information was released by Zhao Zhenge, vice3 director of the International Relations Department of CCPIT, at a news briefing of the Global Forum4 of Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights Protection.

 

Patent infringement has become one of the most difficult problems between China and US, as the latter takes it as an effective way to win in the escalating5 competition. “Since China has started to export more and more high-tech6 products to the US, intellectual property rights have become an unavoidable topic for Chinese enterprises. They must realize that their counterparts from the US are registering numerous trademarks7 and applying for different patents in China, which will raise them a greater challenge,” said Zhao.

 

At present, piracy8, intellectual property rights and patents are the key matters in infringement cases between China and US.
