Chinanews, Nanning, September 30 – Maybe it is beyond the wildest dreams of everyone in Wuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous1 Region, that their city is the world's biggest man-made gem2 producer, where 80% of the world’s man-made rubies3 and diocromas (90% of total domestic output) are produced every year.

 

More than 100 thousand workers in Wuzhou produce more than 120 million gems4 annually5. Though gems have not brought much tax revenue to the city, they have offered more than 100 thousand job opportunities, a great contribution to attainment6 of the goal of building a harmonious7 society.
