Chinanews, Beijing, Apr.30 – The China Electricity Council on Sunday issued a report on electricity supply forecast and China’s economic operation situation. According to this report, electricity shortage problem has become less severe throughout the country. However, some problems still remain in electricity production and operational chains.

 

During the first quarter of this year, electricity output increased rapidly, with 701.171 billion kilowatt1 hours, up 15.5% from the same period last year. Among all, the growth rate of hydraulic2 power supply had slowed down to the lowest point in three recent years due to seasonal3 water shortage.

 

During the first season, newly-launched electricity projects reached an installed capacity of 13.13 million kilowatts4. Among them, thermal5 power projects accounted for 95%, indicating that he installation of thermal power projects still had grown too fast.

 

As electricity shortage is alleviated6 to some extent, many places have relatively7 sufficient power supply now. However, due to seasonal water shortage, insufficient8 coal supply, constant machine overhauls9 and occasional problems occurring to power grids10, many places still experience constant electricity supply controls or power cuts.
