Chinanews, Beijing, May 18 – The China Central Television and the National Entrepreneurship Research Center under Tsinghua University on Thursday released a survey result about how ordinary Chinese people start their own businesses. The survey result shows that 26-35 is considered as a prime time for one to start one's business.

 

The survey covers people from 28 provinces in China. As the survey shows, over half of the people start their businesses at the ages of 26-35. In addition, 24.28% of the business starters are people at the ages between 36 and 45, while 20.55% of the business starters are at the ages of 18-25. The survey shows that more and more young people opt1 to become new entrepreneurs in society.

 

The survey also shows that most new business starters (65.94%) have a registered capital of less than 500,000 yuan, while about 26.66% of the people in the survey have a registered capital of less than 100,000 yuan. Only 2.44% of the business starters have a registered capital of over 5 million yuan. Most (74.66%) new businesspeople tend to set up their companies where they live, while only 25.34% of the new businesspeople want to set up their companies elsewhere.

 

In the survey, most business starters tend to establish private companies, as nearly half of the new entrepreneurs choose to do so. Individual businesspeople come next. Less than 3% of them choose to open foreign-funded enterprises. Most new businesspeople start their businesses in the retail2 and wholesale3 sector4, followed next by the industrial sector. In recent years, agricultural processing industry has become a more popular choice for business starters. In the survey, agricultural processing industry is the third most popular sector for business starters.
