Chinanews, Beijing, May 20 - McKinsey & Company China released1 a report on the behavior of Chinese consumers2 on May 17, saying that 52% of Chinese consumers believe good quality comes only with expensive price, and 69% of them prefer goods of famous brands to those of ordinary brands, as far as their economic situation allows.

 

About 41% of respondents to McKingsey's research say that shopping is their favorite pastime3. Averagely, a Chinese spends 9.8 hours doing shopping or window shopping every week, while the average figure in Brazil, Russia, India and China is 7.2 hours every week. An American only spends 3.6 hours doing shopping every week.

 

Interestingly, although Chinese believe expensive goods are of better quality, many of them will choose "cheaper' goods sometimes. 12% of them even admit that when they go shopping, they only buy the cheapest goods available.
