Chinese police destroy a large drug-making factory

Chinanews, Kunming, May 25 – Local police in Kunming, Yunnan Province revealed on Wednesday that they had successfully destroyed a large drug-making factory and captured 780 kilos of Ketamine and 2.3 tons of drug-making materials, and arrested 7 suspects.

 

Ketamine is a general dissociative anesthetic1 for human and veterinary use, which was made into pills and taken for pleasure in Chinese mainland during the 1990s. Some young people enjoy using Ketamine and become addicted2 to it. According to statistics, more than 20% of drugs smuggled3 to China are Ketamine.

 

Late last March, Kunming police found two suspicious persons frequently visit Sino-Burmese border areas, and the police then found that the two men went there to meet with Burmese Ketamine producers brought drug-making materials to Chengdu.

 

Currently the case is still under investigation4.
