　这是一首实力派女歌手都想尝试的高难度歌曲，但没有两把刷子的话，下场铁定是死得很难看，故翻唱版本不算多。

　"阿根廷，别为我哭泣"这首歌是百老汇舞台剧「艾薇塔」（Evita）中最脍炙人口的一首歌，作曲者便是鼎鼎大名的安德鲁洛伊韦伯（Andrew Lloyd Webber）。

　「艾薇塔」的剧情是描述阿根廷第一夫人伊娃裴隆（Eva Peron）的一生。１９１９年１１月２１日她生于阿根廷的小乡村洛托多，十九岁到首都布宜诺斯艾利斯发展演艺事业，廿六岁认识裴隆上校，并成为他的第二任妻子。１９４６年裴隆当选阿根廷总统，她出任劳工部长，成立伊娃裴隆基金会，组织裴隆党的妇女党部。１９５１年她企图搭档竞选副总统，遭到军方反对，隔年因为子宫癌过世，年仅卅三岁。

　该剧推出之后，在英美两地的票房均十分风光，因此这首歌在市面上有几个不同的演唱版本。包括英国首演版的茱莉柯雯顿（Julie Covington）、曾获东尼奖最佳女主角的佩蒂露邦（Patti Lubone），以及有「音乐舞台剧女王」之称的伊莲佩姬（Elaine Paige），流行音乐界则有芭芭拉史翠珊。

　该剧大受欢迎，电影界当然不会放过这样的题材。７０年代末，好莱坞就拍出了「铁腕红颜」，由费唐娜薇出饰阿根廷第一夫人。１９９７年，英国导演亚伦帕克（Alan Parker）再度将该剧搬上银幕，并保留原剧中的音乐。消息一传出，许多歌喉不差的女明星均极力争取演出的机会，令人跌破眼镜的是最后竟由「歌坛豪放女」玛丹娜出线，导致阿根廷全国上下群情激愤，抗议恶女形象的玛丹娜不配演出该国圣女艾薇塔。

　影片完成后反应平平，玛丹娜重新诠释剧中的歌曲，虽无法超越前人，但起码因为她的号召力，使更多年轻歌迷能够领会这出经典音乐剧的迷人之处，也算是功过相抵。
