　这首歌原本是秘鲁的民俗音乐家丹尼尔阿罗密亚斯罗布列斯( 1871~1943 )的作品，1956 年首先被艾多阿德法尔以吉他独奏的方式发表，1965 年，欧洲著名的「印加民俗乐团」再度灌录此曲，恰巧被到巴黎旅行的保罗赛门( Paul Simon )听到，保罗赛门相当喜欢这首曲子，一时兴起填上英文歌词，回到美国后和搭档亚特葛芬柯( Art Garfunkel )一同灌录成唱片，于 1970 年发行后风行全球，这首曲子因此成为南美洲最具代表性的一首民谣，后来出版的南美民谣专辑中，这首歌几乎不曾被遗漏掉。
　后来，美国另外一位活跃于六、七十年代的男歌星安迪威廉斯( Andy Williams )也曾唱过这首歌，是个更贴近现代流行风味的版本。此外，特别推荐波尔玛丽亚大乐团的演奏版本，是除了南美当地原汁原味的演奏以外，最容易让人接受的豪华版。
