Chinanews, Chongqing, June 26 – As Chinese people’s living standards have improved, many people find new ways of making investment. In Chongqing, recently, some people go to antique markets to buy old treasures as a new way of their investment activities.

 

Last Sunday, the tenth China (Chongqing) Antique Art Exhibition was held in the city. Many expert antique connoisseurs1 from the Palance Museum in Beijing, including Ye Peilan, Xu Zhongling, Zhang Guangwen, and Liu Jing went to Chongqing to appraise2 antiques for local antique lovers. Hundreds of antique collectors and lovers arrived at the scene early in the morning. The exhibition venue3 was crowded with people, who came and brought their chinaware, jade4, or other old stuff to ask experts to appraise them.

 

Experts soon discovered some really good things at the exhibition. A local resident brought a bronze statue of a pharmacist in the Qing Dynasty to the exhibition. The antique connoisseurs discovered that the bronze statue was a real treasured stuff. They soon issued the antique appraising5 certificate to the owner and told him that the bronze statue really cost a lot of money.

 

In recent years, many antique appraising events are held in Chongqing at the weekends. Local auction6 houses also invite antique experts to attend these activities who then help antique collectors to appraise the value of their stuff. Experts can found some real valuable stuff from time to time. Some antiques can cost one million yuan.

 

Nowadays, collecting antiques is no longer an activity exclusive for professional collectors. Some investors7, antique lovers, real estate developers and entrepreneurs also join this market. They are willing to spend a large sum of money to buy antiques from antique collectors.

 

Although experts have warned people that risks are involved in antique collection, the antique market is still thriving in Chongqing. The booming antique market not only boosts the economic development in the city, it also nurtures8 more people who have a taste for antiques. At the same time, many real antiques can be better protected by the folk.
