Chinanews, Beijing, July 5 –Before the National Statistics Bureau issued the bi-annual macroeconomic report, the State Information Center (SIC) on Wednesday released a report analyzing1 the macroeconomy of the past six months. The report says that GDP growth rate might have reached 10.9% during the past six months, indicating that Chinese economy is still on the fast track, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

 

The report says that it is even more obvious that Chinese economy is tending to turn from a fast economy to an overheated one. The report suggests that China raise the interest rate and cancel the interest gains tax. However, during the past week, many people did not expect China to raise the interest rate again in the near future, for they thought if China canceled the interest gains tax, the amount would be twice the amount of increased interest rate.

 

Faced with the large imbalance in international payment and excessive liquidity2, the Ministry3 of Finance recently took some regulating measures to solve the problems. These measures included adjusting the export refund4 and issuing 1.55 trillion yuan worth of state treasury5 bonds. However, since trade surplus surged with extraordinary high amount during the first half of this year, this has become the major factor for economy to become overheated.

 

Since trade surplus has expanded greatly and international payment imbalance become even more severe, conflicts have emerged in substantial economy. “Compared with the first quarter, Chinese economy has turned from a fast economy to an overheated one”, the report declares.

 

The report suggests that China should take a tightened6 policy to handle the overheat situation.

 

China should take a prudent7, tightened policy to regulate macroeconomy. By adjusting the pricing system, interest rates, foreign exchange rates, export refund, labor8 costs, land resources, and environmental costs, it is expected that trade surplus and investment rebound9 can be curbed10, the report claims.

 

The report mentions the raise of interest rates and the cancellation11 of interest gains tax. It predicts that consumer price index might increase by 3.3%, more than the 3% alerting line set by the central government.
