First women's catharsis club opens in Chongqing

Chongqing's women's catharsis club, the first of its kind in China, opened on Wednesday, and would serve citizens for free in the near future.
 
Chinanews, Chongqing, Nov. 26 – "We will never need to hold back our pent-up anger any more!" Women shouted and kicked a rubber statue. This is what our reporter had seen in a Chongqing's women's catharsis club, the first of its kind in China.

 

According to the local women's federation1, the club opened on Wednesday, and would serve citizens for free in the near future.

 

The club, covering an area of more than 20 sq m, keeps two rubber statues. Words like "depression," and "domestic2 violence" are carved on their chests. Sandbags and soft music players are also installed in the club, to relieve people of their pressures.

 

"Many women wish to relax themselves without hurting somebody," said an official from the women's federation, "they want to find someone to talk to, or just to give vent3 to their anger."
