Chinanews, Kunming, July 12 – The construction of the second biggest water conservancy project, Xiluodu Hydro-power Station, will enter into a very important stage, as its dam will be closed before the end of 2007.

 

Currently, its builder, the Three Gorges1 Project Co. Ltd, is conducting final checks and confirming the construction plan of the closure work.

 

Xiluodu is located in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River, at the border between Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. It will play an important part in China’s Western Development Project, as it will be equipped with a generating capacity of 12.6 million kw.

 

China has invested 50.034 billion yuan on the project, which was kicked off in 2003 and will eventually be completed in 2015.
