Various gifts sell hot before Qixi, or the Seventh Night of the Seventh Month Festival.
 
Chinanews, Beijing, August 14 – Qixi, or Double Seventh Night, or the Seventh Night of the Seventh Month Festival, will fall on August 19 this year. Though it is considered as the “Chinese St. Valentine's Day”, not many Chinese today are interested in it. As a matter of fact, not even many businesspeople have started their sales promotion1 campaign themed in Qixi.

 

Actually, some shopping malls in Beijing have launched sales promotions2 with the theme of “romantic Chinese Valentine”, but hotels and restaurants are absolutely not a part of it. Besides, the flower market is still very slack, unlike in last February 14. In fact, the average sales value of the flower market these days is only 40% of the figure during last St. Valentine's Day.

 

However, there is also good news: the price of flowers won't soar on Qixi.
