One in every ten Chinese couples have infertility problem

Chinanews, Beijing, Aug 24 – Statistics show that in China, about 10%-15% of Chinese couples are unable to give birth to babies. One-third of the infertility1 cases are caused by the husband but most are related with the wife, the Beijing Times reported.

 

At present, infertility has become a common disease in China and infertility incidence is always on the rise. The disease might be related with problems such as environmental pollution, smoking, late pregnancy2, and nutrition disorder3, which lead to obesity4 or weight loss. In addition, the side effects of medicines and drugs, heavy work pressure, repeated abortions5, infection of the reproductive system and sex-related diseases will all contribute to infertility. As people get older, the possibility of infertility also increases.

 

Information shows that for married women aged6 30-34, one out of seven couples has encountered infertility problem. For married women aged 35-40, the infertility rate is up to 20%. For women aged 40-44, one out of every four couples have infertility problem.
