Chinanews, Beijing, August 27 – Though Guangdong Province lies just next to Hong Kong, many Hong Kong people used to hold strong prejudice against Guangdongers before its return to China. Nowadays, Hong Kong people’s attitude towards Guangdongers has thoroughly1 changed, as is proved by the fact that many of them have married Guangdongers. According to the statistics from Guangdong Provincial2 Civil Affairs Administration, in Shenzhen alone, 356 Hong Kong people married locals in 2006.

 

In the past, Hong Kong was like a legend far far away from Guangdongers, and many of them (particularly females) dreamed of tying the knot with a Hong Konger, so that they could migrate there

 

These days, with enhanced cultural and economic communications between Hong Kong and Guangdong, both Hong Kong people and Guangdongers have gained a better understanding of the lifestyle of each other, which has also changed their views on marriage. Guangdongers don’t take marriage with Hong Kong people as a bridge to Hong Kong any more.

 

Today, many Hong Kong youths have found their true love in Guangdong, and there will be more happy marriages between people of the two places.
