800 thousand drug addicts in China

Chinanews, Kunming, Sept. 7 – According to latest statistics of National Association against Drug Abuse and Illegal Drug Trafficking, there are 800 thousand drug addicts1 in China, 660 thousand of them being heroine addicts. National Development and Reform Commission recently has allocated2 420 thousand yuan for establishing new drug addicts rehabilitation3 centers.

 

Sun Dahong, director of Yunnan Provincial4 Public Security Bureau, said that some 600 drug addicts had been taken in by such centers. Earlier, China has set up such centers in Kunming of Yunnan Province, Sanya of Hainan Province, and Wuzhong of Ningxia Hui Autonomous5 Region.
