Chinanews, Xining, Sept. 13 – In order to improve the ecological1 environment of the three-river-sources, nearly 100 thousand farmers and herdspeople will have to move out of the source regions before 2010. The total investment of this project will reach 7.5 billion yuan.

 

The three-river-source refer to the Yellow River, the Yangtze River and the Lancang River. Several years of human activities made the regions seriously deteriorating2 environmentally.

 

Li Xiaonan, an official of the Qinghai provincial3 government, said that some 6,000 Tibetans would have to give up their years’ long work of herdsmen as herdspeople in favor of new occupations. As a matter of fact, some of them and herdsmen have already found jobs in town.
