Chinanews, Beijing, Sept 17 – By the end of 2006, China's overseas investment reached 90.63 billion US dollars, according to a report released on Friday.

 

By the end of 2006, more than 5,000 Chinese mainland investment entities1 had made their investment in about 10,000 companies at overseas market. These companies are located in 172 countries and regions with a total investment amount of 90.63 billion US dollars. Of this amount, 37.24 billion US dollars are equity2 investment, accounting3 for 41% of the total; 33.68 billion US dollars are reinvestment, accounting for 37% of the total amount; 19.71 billion US dollars are investment in other forms, accounting for 22% of the total, the report says.

 

At present, Chinese companies have made overseas direct investment in nearly all kinds of industrial sectors4. 70% of the investment goes to commodity service, mining, finance, and wholesale5 and retail6 business sectors. Of this, commodity service attracts 22% of the investment and mining industry attracts 20% of the investment.
