Chinanews, Beijing, Oct 8 – Foreign investment in China keeps growing steadily1. China has entered into a new period of foreign investment utilization2, according to recent information released from the National Statistics Bureau.

 

Since 2002, the contract value and actual use of FDI in China have kept growing rapidly and the actual foreign investment in China has become higher and higher. In 2002, the actual use of FDI in China exceeded 50 billion US dollars for the first time in history, and it hit the 60-billion-US-dollar mark in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2006, the actual use of FDI reached 63 billion US dollars. From 2003 to 2006, the actual use of FDI in China grew at an average annual rate of 4.6%.

 

With large amount of FDI coming to China, the country has imported many advanced and useful technologies from abroad. This has greatly boosted industrial and technological3 upgrade and streamlined industrial structure. From 2003 to 2006, about 29.3 billion US dollars of foreign investment flowed into telecommunication4, computer and electronics manufacturing sectors5, while in 2006 alone, the amount of foreign investment that flowed into the three sectors reached 8.2 billion US dollars, up 5.9% from the previous year.
