(单词翻译:单击)
Some Chinese have made the most of their positions to become rich, for it is easy for them to take advantage of social resources. Most of such rich Chinese often lead an extravagant2 and luxurious3 life, like spending thousands of yuan on a single meal in restaurants or on gambling4.
The Social Investigation5 Center of China Youth Daily and Sina.com have jointly6 conducted people’s views on rich people, covering 3,990 respondents.
In the survey, 66.75% of respondents believe that most rich Chinese are immoral7 or relatively8 immoral, while only 3.95% of the respondents respect rich Chinese. It is said that the rich people in China don’t have a strong sense of social responsibility, especially in charity matters.
There are also rich Chinese who made their fortune by taking advantage of the loopholes in laws and regulations at the beginning of the Reform and Opening-Up.
Though China has become much better off, quite a large part of its people are still living under the poverty line, which makes the behavior of those rich people who roll in the lap of luxury only more detestable.
