Chinanews, Hangzhou, October 19 – High-quality whisky and wine have become the new favorite drink of modern Hangzhouers, and a pub there even sold more than 9,000 bottles of Chivas in a month, an Asian record in 12 years, followed by another pub in Suzhou, which once sold 6,000 bottles in a month.

 

“Our DJ is from UK, and he was surprised to see that Hangzhouers drank so much whisky in a month. A British usually finishes a bottle in one or two months,” said the owner of the pub. It is said that the executives of Chivas even went to Hangzhou to confirm the authenticity1 of the sales record.

 

Only two years ago, the most popular drink in pubs in Hangzhou was beer, but now nearly all the customers choose foreign hard liquors.

 

“When we made that record, there were not so may pubs in Hangzhou. That might explain why even we ourselves can’t break it,” said the owner of the pub.

 

　　By the way, Hangzhou is considered as both a cultural and a business center of the area, and there are numerous wealthy people from Wenzhou, Ningbo and Taizhou living in Hangzhou, many of whom often follow the fashion blindly.

　　Nowadays, Chivas almost dominates all the pubs in Hangzhou, as the customers won’t even try any other brands.
