Chinanews, Changsha, November 4 – “I believe I have weekend phobia, as I have slept through several weekends without feeling refreshed at all. In fact, weekends only make me even more exhausted1.”

 

Above is quoted from the blog of Miss Xiao, a single office lady with a decent salary in Changsha. Every weekend she falls into a panic, not knowing what to do.

 

In fact, many young white collars there have similar problems as Miss. Xiao, most of whom are non-locals. Homesickness and limited interpersonal relations are the factors to their “weekend phobia”.

 

When talking with colleagues, Miss Xiao finds that many of them share her problem. They have tried to find all sorts of excitements at pubs, karaoke bars, restaurants, etc, only to find that they become more depressed2 afterwards.
