(单词翻译:单击)
Water pollution is very common in China. In 2006, generally all the surface water in China was moderately polluted, and 1/3 of the 744 sections under national monitoring can be categorized as V-level deteriorated2. The parts of rivers in cities are almost all polluted.
By now China has no effective measures to cope with water pollution, while both industrial and domestic sewages in a large number of cities are directly released into the environment. Some enterprises even dispose of untreated toxins3 into the environment. Some cities are equipped with advanced waste-water treatment plants, but only very few of them are in full-load operation.
More than 50% of chemical plants in China are located along rivers, which pose a great threat to water security.
Besides, both agriculture and industry in China should be more water-efficient, not to mention that the water resources in many places in China are over-developed.
