The survey was done by several large Internet media companies and the result of the survey was released on Thursday.
Most of the respondents work in IT industry, media editing, designing, computer programming or Internet advertising1 fields. These people spend a lot more time dealing2 with computers at work and therefore they are vulnerable to the bad effects brought by computers than ordinary netizens.
“I have to use computers every day. Now, my skin has become rougher”, “I spend much time surfing on the Internet and I have had a lot of hair loss recently.” Many office workers often complain in this way. In the survey, 98% of the respondents have had problems such as poor eyesight, deteriorated3 immune system, joints4 sore or rough skins. Among them, 61% complain that they often have neck, wrist or back sore. More than 50% of the people working in Internet industry often feel tired and their immune system have gone from bad to worse.
In addition, some people who work in Internet industry have displayed some mental problems. While 15% of the respondents say working in Internet industry won't bring any mental problems, the majority of them believe that the work can make one depressed5, become easily irritated or feel isolated6 from the real life.
Experts believe that long-time exposure to computer radiation, incorrect sitting posture7 and lack of exercises will all cause some physical problems. In addition, high work pressure and lack of communication among people will make some people working in the industry suffer from mental problems.
