Chinanews, Shanghai, December 13 – According1 to a research conducted by the medical school of Tongji University, though smokers2 know the risks of smoking3, but very few of them can make in their attempt to break themselves of the habit of smoking. 60% of smokers who had tried to give up smoking relapsed into the habit within a year, and only 35% of them eventually made the grade.

 

50% of those who have failed to stop smoking claim that they can’t refuse the cigarettes offered by their friends.

 

However, there is a much higher incidence4 of lung cancers among smokers in China. The rate in Shanghai is about 1/6. Doctors have found that the incidence of cancers can be reduced to the normal level after one stops smoking for 15 years.
