Chinanews, Guangzhou, Dec. 27 – Recently when a South Korean tried to smuggle1 50 boas and 56 lizards2 into China via Guangzhou in the south, he was detected and arrested by the local police.

 

Customs and anti-smuggling officials spotted3 10 suspicious bags and three boxes in his suitcase through a scanner on Dec. 14.

 

Animal experts said the animals belonged to 10 different species.

 

Sixty-seven of the reptiles4 were on the Appendix Ⅱ list of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna5 and Flora6, Xu said.
