美国航空首件行李开收“托运费”

    美国联合航空公司自本月12日起对乘客首件行李征收托运费，成为继美国航空公司之后第二家增设这项收费的航空公司。联合航空公司规定，乘客需为单件行李支付15美元托运费；第二件行李则需支付25美元；假如行李在3件或3件以上或行李超重，加收的费用也将酌情增加，譬如从原先100美元涨至125美元，或者从200美元涨至250美元。

    Baggage fees are fast becoming an unavoidable part of US flying — three of the largest carriers now charge $15 for a first checked bag. No. 2 United Airlines and No. 7 US Airways¹ announced their new fees on Thursday, three weeks after No. 1 American Airlines set the precedent² for the charge.

    行李费很快就要成为美国航空旅行中必须支出的一项费用了。最大的航空公司中已经有三家宣布对首件托运行李收取15美元的行李费。位于第二位的联合航空公司和第七位的合众国航空公司在本周四宣布增加此项收费，三周前，全球最大的美国航空公司为此项收费首开先例。

    上述报道中，baggage fee就是“行李费”，checked bag是“托运行李”，check在这里是to send (baggage) on a passenger's ticket, usually on the same carrier used by the passenger, for pickup³ at the destination，即“托运”的意思，千万不要理解为“安检”之类的意思哦。“首件行李托运费”就是charge for a first checked bag。
