Actor Hugh Jackman has been given the all-clear to attend the Mexican premiere of his latest movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine later this month.

The star's scheduled appearances there had been cancelled because of the swine flu outbreak.

According to Jackman's Twitter page, he intends "to provide a moment of fun, escapism and a treat for some of the loyal² fans of the comic".

The event will now take place at the National Auditorium³ on 26 May.

The flu outbreak caused cinemas and other venues⁴ in Mexico to close for five days.

However all places of business were re-opened on Thursday.

The movie, which has topped both the UK and US box offices, has outperformed two of the previous movies about the superheroes.

The final chapter of that trilogy, X-Men: The Last Stand, is still the most successful, with $45.1m (£30.2m) on opening day in 2006.

Wolverine was leaked onto the internet more than a month before its release.

It was downloaded more than 100,000 times in the 24 hours after it was leaked on to several websites.

Reviews of the film, which focus on the back story of Jackman's tortured⁵ mutant, have been mixed.
