Film director Roman Polanski has been moved from a jail near Zurich to an undisclosed location for "security reasons", Swiss officials say.

Polanski, who has been held since September, is to be placed under house arrest（软禁） at his Alpine1 chalet on Friday after being granted bail2 by a court.

He fled the US in 1978 after pleading guilty（服罪） to having unlawful sex with an underage（未成年的） girl.

Switzerland is deciding whether to extradite（引渡回国，拿获归案） him to the US.

A justice ministry3 spokesman said Polanski left the jail in Winterthur on Thursday for "security reasons and personal protection", AP news agency reported.

The spokesman said Polanski was still expected to be taken to his chalet（小木屋） in the luxury resort（豪华度假村） of Gstaad on Friday afternoon.

The 76-year-old film-maker will be fitted with an electronic bracelet4（手镯） that will activate5 if he attempts to abscond（潜逃，逃匿）.

The Swiss Federal Criminal Court granted the Oscar-winning director $4.5m (£2.7m) bail, pending6 proceedings7 for his possible extradition8 to the US.

The director of films such as Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown and The Pianist was arrested after travelling to Zurich on 26 September to pick up a lifetime achievement award.

Polanski was accused of raping9 a 13-year-old girl after plying10（通过，使用） her with champagne11（香槟） and a sedative12（镇静剂） during a modelling shoot in 1977.

He was initially13 indicted14（起诉，控告） on six counts - including rape15 by use of drugs, child molesting16（虐待儿童） and sodomy（鸡奸） - but pleaded guilty to the lesser17 charge of unlawful sexual intercourse18（性行为）.

Polanski fled the US on the day he was to be sentenced, and has lived in France since then.
