A forest bathing trip is a short, leisurely¹ visit to a forest and is regarded as being similar to natural aromatherapy. Studies show that forest bathing can strengthen the immune system.

A forest bathing trip involves visiting a forest for relaxation² and recreation while breathing in volatile³ substances derived⁴ from trees, which can lower stress and make people feel at ease. Experience shows that the scents⁵ of trees, the sounds of brooks⁶ and the feel of sunshine through forest leaves can have a calming effect.

“森林浴”的内容主要是在森林里放松、休闲，同时呼吸树木散发出的挥发性物质，这些物质能够帮助减轻压力和放松心情。实践证明，树木的味道、河流的声音以及阳光透过树叶照进来的感觉是有镇静功效的。

Incorporating forest bathing trips into a good lifestyle was first proposed in 1982 by the Forest Agency of Japan. It has now become a recognized relaxation and/or stress management activity in Japan.

将“森林浴”融入健康的生活方式当中这个理念是在1982年由一家日本森林经纪公司提出来的。现在，“森林浴”已经成了日本国内公认的一种放松减压活动。
