Matriarch of Australia's underworld, Judy Moran, has been sentenced to 26 years in jail for the murder of her brother-in-law.

The 66-year-old was convicted in March for her role in killing2 Des "Tuppence" Moran, who was shot dead in a Melbourne cafe in June 2009.

Moran has previously3 lost two husbands and two sons to gangland（黑社会） killings4.

Correspondents say Moran, who is in poor health, appeared shocked by the sentencing and shouted out her innocence7.

Sentencing judge Lex Lasry said Moran's crime was "appalling8（可怕的） ".

"This was a deliberate and brutal killing. There is of course no sign of remorse9（懊悔，同情） on your part," he said.

Geoffrey "Nutts" Armour10, the man Moran paid to carry out the killing, was also sentenced to 26 years.

A second gunman, Michael Farrugia, pleaded guilty to manslaughter（杀人） and was jailed in December for four years.
