preservative 防腐剂

The Coca-Cola products that tested positive for a banned preservative¹ in Taiwan have been recalled, and the Coca-Cola Co said its products on the Chinese mainland are completely safe to drink.

可口可乐公司的一款饮料在台湾被检测出含有违禁防腐剂，可口可乐公司已经将其召回，并且声称此款饮料在中国内地完全安全，可以放心饮用。

文中的preservative指的就是防腐剂。防腐剂是一种化学成分（chemical compound），常常被添加到食品药品或木材中，来预防它们腐败变质（decaying or decomposition），盐就是一种常见的食品防腐剂（food preservative）。Preservative-free就是不含防腐剂的意思了。

防腐剂是食品添加剂（food additives²）中的一种。我们最近知道了很多食品添加剂，像猪肉中的“瘦肉精”（lean meat powder / Clenbuterol），西瓜里的“膨大剂”（swelling agent），蔬菜水果的“催熟剂”（ripening agent）等等。适量的食品添加剂不会危害食品安全（food safety），不过国内对添加剂宽松的标准（lax standard）却令人不得不为食品安全担忧。
