Statistics show China is facing an unprecedented¹ wave of multiple births, and this means a significant number of women are choosing to take fertility drugs or use other methods to increase their number of fetuses².

有数据显示，中国正迎来一个前所未有的多胞胎生育高峰，这意味着相当数量的女性选择服用多仔丸或采用其他方法来增加胎儿数量。

上文中的fertility drugs就是“多仔丸”，学名是clomiphene citrate（克罗米芬），是一种医院专门针对不孕女性进行治疗的促排卵药物。中国许多女性没有意识到服用“多仔丸”的风险而盲目服用这种促排卵药物，从而导致multiple birth（多胞胎生育）的增多。

服用“多仔丸”产下多胞胎虽然能迎合国人的more children, more happiness（多子多福）的传统习俗，但却很可能引发母子健康风险，造成人口质量的隐性下降。多胞胎患cerebral³ palsy（脑瘫）的几率远高于单胎的孩子，健康水平也大大低于单胎新生儿。治疗sterility（不孕症），应求助于正规医院进行assisted reproductive treatment（辅助生殖治疗），而非滥用“多仔丸”这类药物。
