YAOUNDE, Jan. 31 - China and Cameroon are willing to further strengthen mutual1 political trust and expand cooperation in various fields, according to a joint2 communique issued on Wednesday.

 

The communique was issued during Chinese President Hu Jintao's state visit to the African country.

 

President Hu and President Paul Biya, in their talks, exchanged views on further developing China-Cameroon friendly relations of cooperation, and implementing4 the the measures taken at the Beijing Summit of the Forum5 on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the communique says.

 

The two leaders also discussed international affairs of common concern and reached comprehensive consensus6, it says.

 

The two sides signed a series of agreements covering inter-governmental economic and technological7 cooperation and China's write-off of debts owed by Cameroon, says the communique.

 

The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the steady and healthy development and fruitful results of the China-Cameroon relations over the past 36 years after the two countries forged diplomatic ties, it says.

 

China and Cameroon will continue to push their long-standing relations to a new high on the basis of sincerity8, friendliness9, equality, mutual trust, solidarity10, cooperation and common development, the communique says.

 

Both sides promised to support each other on issues regarding sovereignty and territorial11 integrity, it says.

 

Cameroon reiterated12 adherence13 to the one-China policy and expressed support for China's efforts in realizing national reunification, and China reiterated its support for Cameroon's efforts in safeguarding national unification and stability, the communique says.

 

The two sides agreed that China and Cameroon enjoy great potential for cooperation, and they are willing to make concerted efforts to consolidate14 cooperation in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure15 construction, energy and telecom, it says.

 

The governments of the two countries will continue to encourage enterprises to expand mutually-beneficial cooperation and provide support and favorable conditions, says the communique.

 

Both sides expressed their willingness to enhance coordination16 and cooperation in international affairs, safeguard developing countries' common interests, and contribute to a harmonious17 world of lasting18 peace and common prosperity, it says.

 

The two sides spoke19 highly of the friendly relations of cooperation between China and Africa, saying the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, which was held last November, has achieved a great success, according to the communique.

 

The two sides vowed20 to conduct closer cooperation to fully21 implement3 the outcome of the summit, and develop a new type of strategic partnership22 between China and Africa featuring political equality and mutual trust, "win-win" economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, it says.

 

Hu is on an eight-nation tour of Africa that will also take him to Liberia, Sudan, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique and Seychelles.
