A new search area may be opened in the Indian Ocean as authorities try to determine what happened to a missing Malaysian airliner¹, the White House said on Thursday.

 

白宫方面周四表示，为了调查马航失联航班的真相，政府或将搜索区域扩大至印度洋。

 

马航失联客机（the missing Malaysian airliner）最近一直引人关注，多国搜索行动已经有25个国家参与，搜索区域（search area）已覆盖泰国湾（the gulf² of Thailand）、安达曼海（Andaman Sea）以及马来半岛两侧（both sides of the Malaysian peninsula）。

 

目前主要的搜索方式为海上搜索（sea search）和空中搜索（air search），各国均派出海军舰船（navy vessels）、飞机和直升机（aircrafts and helicopters）等参与搜救。同时，中国已调动了高分、海洋、风云、遥感4个系列近10颗卫星，为马航失联客机MH370的搜救行动提供技术支持（technology support）。

 

针对近日有关911式袭击（9/11-style attack）的传闻报道，马方表示正在对所有机上乘客和机组人员进行背景排查（background check）。
