rocketing 火箭式消费

Rocketing refers to spending a great deal of money on a few important items while spending only an average amount or less on everything else.

 

“火箭式消费”指的是在几件重要的东西上花费许多钱，而在其他东西上花费不多或很少。

 

Some people will spend lots of money on a few items they really care about, such as their iPhones or their SLR cameras, and then they will go downmarket to Wal-Mart to buy most of the other stuff¹ they don't care about. Rocketing is occurring at every income level.

 

有些人会在他们非常在乎的几样东西上花费重金，比如苹果手机或单反相机，而其他无所谓的大部分东西则选择去沃尔玛这种低档平价市场上购买。各个收入阶层都存在火箭式消费模式。
