1月18日，习近平总书记在北京考察冬奥会、冬残奥会筹办工作。他表示，对办好北京2022年冬奥会和冬残奥会充满信心。

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has expressed his confidence that China will host a successful Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Xi made the remarks during an inspection¹ tour in Beijing on Jan 18 on the preparatory work for the Games.

 

体育强国的基础在群众体育。要通过举办北京冬奥会、冬残奥会，把我国冰雪运动特别是雪上运动搞上去。

The foundation of building a sporting powerhouse lies in mass-participation sports and China's hosting of the Games should entail² a higher national level of winter sports, especially snow sports.
