“瘟神”，god of plague，中国古代神话中专以瘟疫害人的鬼神，现在比喻作恶多端、面目可憎的人或邪恶势力。人们常用此来表达某人不吉利，会给别人带来灾难。瘟[wēn]，指流行性急性传染病：瘟疫、瘟病（pest; pestilence1; plague）。神[shén]，表示神灵、神怪（god; deity2; divinity）。
