2007年1月8日 通用汽车推出电动汽车雪佛兰VOLT1


通用汽车(GM)推出了一款准备批量生产的混合动力汽车，以兑现对电动汽车技术的承诺。此前，该公司曾因要放弃这项技术而受到指责。

General Motors has unveiled a hybrid2 car destined3 for mass production in a commitment to electric-vehicle technology after it was formerly4 accused of quashing it.

这家全球最大的汽车制造商昨日在底特律的北美国际汽车展(Nornth America International Auto5 Show)上推出了"雪佛兰Volt(Chevrolet Volt)"概念车。Volt车是一款外接电源式汽车，可以通过常规的壁装电源插座充电，完全依靠电池电量最多可行驶40英里。

At the Nornth America International Auto Show in Detroit yesterday the world's largest automaker introduced the Chevrolet Volt concept car. The Volt is a plug-in vehicle rechargeable from a conventional wall outlet6 and runs exclusively on battery power for up to 40 miles.

这款车的推出兑现了通用汽车董事长兼首席执行官里克o瓦格纳(Rick Wagoner)去年11月在洛杉矶车展上做出的承诺。当时，他把电动汽车定为通用汽车的"头等大事"。

The launch makes good on a commitment made by Rick Wagoner, GM's chairman and chief executive, at the Los Angeles auto show in November, when he identified electric vehicles as a "top priority" for GM.
