2007年2月12日 维珍悬赏2500万美元 奖励"除碳"发明



维珍集团(Virgin1 Group)董事长李察o布莱信爵士(Sir Richard Branson)昨日将其宣传才能运用在气候变化问题上，他将拿出2500万美元作为奖金，奖励任何发明以节约手段从大气中清除碳的人。

Sir Richard Branson brought his talent for publicity2 to bear on climate change yesterday, offering a $25m (￡13m) prize to anyone who invents an economical way of removing carbon from the atmosphere.

布莱信爵士表示："世上没有超人，我们只能靠自己的创造性。"

The Virgin group chairman said: "We have no super-hero. We have only our own ingenuity3 to fall back on."

但环保组织指出，一家航空公司及一个提供商务飞行业务的所有者拿出这样一笔奖金，颇有讽刺意味。环保主义者还表示，短期内开发出这种技术的可能性渺茫。

But environmental groups pointed4 to the irony5 of such an offer from the owner of an airline and an operation to offer commercial space flights. Environmentalists also said there was little chance of such technology being developed soon.
