To Christians¹, the cross symbolizes² faith and salvation³. Christians were granted the gift of eternal life in Heaven when Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross for the sins of mankind, and arose from the dead. 

Because Christ suffered pain and death on the cross, this divine and humbling⁴ symbol helps us to be mindful of our beliefs and duties as Christians. Faith in Christ helps us cope with the burden of the crosses we bear.
